It was good news for Ronaldinho’s fans as the star player is set to return to action to both his national side as well as his Italian club AC Milan. The news was conformed after Ronaldinho completed his first full practice session and passed his fitness test on Thursday.

It has been nearly a month since Ronaldinho played a full time match after injuring his heel last month. The last time his fans were able to have a glimpse of him in action was on February 15 when Milan lost 2-1 to city rivals Inter Milan.

Ronaldinho along with Beckham, who suffered a minor injury in his ankle during training, were expected to take the field on March 15 in the match against struggling Siena. However, Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of the third placed side, did not want to risk the striker’s injury and wanted him to recover completely. Ronaldinho took the field for a short period in the later part of the second half.

Though Ronaldinho’s fans were made to wait for his full return at Milan, the big news was that the Brazilian coach Dunga announced that both Ronaldinho and Kaka were in contention for their places at Brazil for the World Cup qualifiers. Dunga picked both the players, who were injured for a while, in his tentative squad. The squad featured other in-form players like Thiago Silva, Robinho and Alexandre Pato, making it an almost incredibly strong squad.

Although it was his repeated injuries that kept Ronaldinho out of Brazil’s recent matches against Portugal, Columbia and Venezuela, Dunga insisted that his place was hanging in balance in view of his poor form recently. Dunga also expressed that Ronaldinho should come out of his lean patch and improve his form to cement his place in the team.

AC Milan’s manager Carlo Ancelotti rates David Beckham much higher than his Brazilian lead striker Kaka. He also cited that Milan’s longtime players Paolo Maldini and Clarence Seedorf have loads of skills that should be learned by star players like Ronaldinho.

Ancelotti was seen showering his praises on David Beckham, explaining a few reasons for his persistent interest to recruit Beckham at Milan. He expressed that he was impressed at Beckham’s growth from a lead player at Manchester United in his early days to a legend now.

He is slower than Kaka, but he is tactically and technically better and is also very intelligent and hard working.

Ancelotti went to the extent of saying that it was Beckham’s character and commitment towards the game that impressed him more than his game plans. He also praised Beckham’s understanding of the game and his ability to handle pressure situations.

Ancelotti also criticized star Brazilian striker Ronaldinho for relying on his talents alone for his success. Ancelotti expressed his views that the players’ physical conditions and commitment to training were equally, if not more, important to developing playing skills.

Players like him do everything based on talent. I have trained a variety of magnificent players and the majority think that they can make the difference with their talent alone,

That is not true In the modern game if you do not stay in great physical condition and are not working in training then it is hard to shine during matches.

He compared Maldini’s disciplined training strategies and Seedorf’s commitment to that of Ronaldinho and wanted the injured star to learn from them. The Brazilian has been under severe criticism for getting prone to injuries more often than in the past. This is something that he has to look forward to resolve quickly as it is his career that is in stake.

Ac Milan 3-0 Atalanta

Milan scores an impressive victory

AC Milan scored an impressive and important victory over Atalanta at the San Siro Stadium in Milan. The 3-0 win, which comes after fourth placed Fiorentina’s 2-0 loss against Palermo, took Milan five points adrift of Fiorentina and to a safer position to get hold of the Champions’ League spot.

Milan dominated the match against the 10th placed Atalanta right from the start to finish. Milan closed off the match with Filippo Inzaghi’s hat-trick. Inzaghi opened his scoring spree in the seventh minute with a beautiful half volley off a cross from Marek Jankulovski past Atalanta’s goalkeeper, Consigli. Milan missed a few close chances to score after Pato’s near perfect shots were drifted off by the goalkeeper.

Inzaghi finally made it 2-0 in the 71st minute after Pato fooled Consigli and opened up the net only to pass the ball to Inzaghi, who easily shot it through. He followed it up soon with a third in the 74th minute with a wonderful shot off a Jankulovski cross. It was all over for Atalanta from there and Milan warded off any serious threat from Atalanta to come back into the match.

The last minutes close to the finish saw standing ovation for both Beckham and Inzaghi from the Milan fans. Milan’s happy manager, Carlo Ancelotti will look to carry forward this excellent form of Milan through the rest of the season and secure a direct berth in the Champions’ League.
