After long and strenuous negotiations with the legal team at Barcelona, the Spanish Sports Disciplinary committee had turned down the appeal by Barcelona to have Ronaldinho play in this derby game. The red card came from the previous game Barcelona had against Getafe, where Ronnie claims his actions to kick the Getafe player was provoked with tackles leading up to the incident. Regardless he sat out this game and watched from the stands of Camp Nou. But something more controversial came about as a result of this game, something reminiscent of Diego Maradona which involves Lionel Messi. Starting to feel deja vu yet?
Messi vs Maradona Again?
It’s hard to think that after his amazing goal in the Getafe Copa match Messi could reproduce something along the lines of Maradona again. But no, Lionel Messi decided to emulate one of the more controversial goals by Maradona, The Hand of God. Just watch and be prepared to be amazed, not at the goal, but rather the irony that fans all over the world are feeling with these two goals. The biggest point of discussion about this can be found at the Lionel Messi blog. The goal by Maradona and the goal by Messi can be found underneath.
What Now For Barca?
The simple equation that Barca need going into their last match of the season is:
Barca Win + Real Madrid Lose = Barca Win La Liga
It really is as simple as that and Real will know this going into their match against Mallorca. Barca I’m sure will be anxious to take out Gimnastic, who on their previous encounter with in the Catalonia Cup, lost to Barca 3-4, so in the interest of Barcelona FC, lets hope we see the same kind of result this time. Sunday the 17th June is the day we hope to see Barcelona hold up the silverware so stay tuned.
