After long and strenuous negotiations with the legal team at Barcelona, the Spanish Sports Disciplinary committee had turned down the appeal by Barcelona to have Ronaldinho play in this derby game. The red card came from the previous game Barcelona had against Getafe, where Ronnie claims his actions to kick the Getafe player was provoked with tackles leading up to the incident. Regardless he sat out this game and watched from the stands of Camp Nou. But something more controversial came about as a result of this game, something reminiscent of Diego Maradona which involves Lionel Messi. Starting to feel deja vu yet?

Messi vs Maradona Again?

It’s hard to think that after his amazing goal in the Getafe Copa match Messi could reproduce something along the lines of Maradona again. But no, Lionel Messi decided to emulate one of the more controversial goals by Maradona, The Hand of God. Just watch and be prepared to be amazed, not at the goal, but rather the irony that fans all over the world are feeling with these two goals. The biggest point of discussion about this can be found at the Lionel Messi blog. The goal by Maradona and the goal by Messi can be found underneath.

What Now For Barca?

The simple equation that Barca need going into their last match of the season is:

Barca Win + Real Madrid Lose = Barca Win La Liga

It really is as simple as that and Real will know this going into their match against Mallorca. Barca I’m sure will be anxious to take out Gimnastic, who on their previous encounter with in the Catalonia Cup, lost to Barca 3-4, so in the interest of Barcelona FC, lets hope we see the same kind of result this time. Sunday the 17th June is the day we hope to see Barcelona hold up the silverware so stay tuned.

Ahh! I hated this day. I was watching on GolTV so I was watching the Real Madrid - Zaragoza game because they decided to show it out of the 8 games that kicked off at the same time. I tuned in about 20 minutes in and then I saw Barcelona get scored against. Then, Zaragoza scored and it’s funny how at Camp Nou the fans just exploded into cheers and it was totally unrelated to what was happening in their game. I don’t exactly remember the exact order of events but then Messi ofcourse punched the ball into the net and within a few minutes Ruud put it in for Real. And then Zaragoza scored a 2nd and Messi scored the 2nd for Barca so they almost had the title in their hands. It was really late like 85 minutes gone or so and I called my friend to tell her the result. She was at work. I was just saying how happy I am that Barca is going to be on top again. And then it was like a slap in the face. Barca got scored and and Real scored. Bleh. I still can’t believe that happened. It’s wierd how the exciting stuff happened at the same time in both games. Especially both equalisers coming almost at the same time. I was in mid sentence talking to my friend. “Yess. Barca is going to be on top. Oh no, they just got scored on, oh well, Real is still los…oh dang Real just scored ahhh crap!” :\
