First let me make a toast :) I want to say congratulations to my cousin Timmy who was wed to the beautiful Diane last night. I hope that they have a long and prosperous life together and I hope to see you guys again real soon.

Now Back To The Blogging

A bit off topic this time but I was at their wedding last night and I must say that the place that they had their celebrations was spectacular. It over looked Sydney Harbour and the night lights just made the place look magical. Not to mention the million dollar yachts that were close by. I was able to grab a picture with my phone below, what do you think? (If you look closely you can see the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background)

This view got me thinking about how lucky I am to live in such a great country and all that the city represents is great. Yes I am biased. It is my birthplace, but I love it with all my heart and unfortunately, football doesn’t thrive here as much as I want it to because sports like rugby (I hear it’s pretty popular overseas too) is much more accepted. The World Cup in Germany changed that a fair bit, however, the people still call football “soccer” and that is the only thing I see wrong here. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the view as much as I did.

I live in the US but I lived in Ukraine until I was 8, and I was playing football since I was maybe 4 or so, so it’s always been football and then we moved. It really annoys me when people call it soccer because, I think the sport has been around longer than the US itself. Why should they change the name when the sport is older than the country? So…I still call it football and to my delight it confuses and annoys many Americans. And why is their football called football? You don’t use your feet. I’m confused.

Confusion and annoyance are the usual responses aren’t they? The other day I said to a business associate that I play football everyday and he said to me, “When you say football what do you mean?” The western world will get used to it soon enough
