What a shocking session of training last night. The bad thing about club football is that there is no professionalism displayed by the players on the team, whereas my other team Archangel Michael, happens to be very committed. What I mean by this is that only 8 players showed up to the training that was scheduled for last night which pissed off my coach and I included. As football players, being professional can be one of the most important things to separate you from the pack. This allows for discipline and integrity both on and off the field.
Let’s Have An Example
Last week during our first competition match, the referee decided it was time to take a drinks break 15 minutes into the game
it made me laugh and he justified it by saying:
It’s the first game of the season and I think we need to have drink breaks in each half. I know you’re all going to be buggered by the 10 minute mark so you’ll thank me…
It was hilarious to hear this from the referee of all people. Oh and by the way, buggered means to be tired to those that didn’t pick that up. I stood there on the field with another team mate who looked to me and said:
Dude this is so unprofessional, when has this ever happened in the game of football?
I agreed with him and we both stayed on the field waiting for the other players to return. But I hope this illustrates my point of being professional. Turning up to training on time, never talking back to the referee, apologising for a poor tackle on another player and the list goes on. So the next time you play a match or have training, be a team player and show up on time and ready to put in 100 percent.
