When you think of marketing, what do you think of? If it’s anything along the lines of “it’s boring” or “I don’t need it”, you are vastly mistaken and should look down at the ground. I am joking about the looking down at the ground, however, many people are blind to the fact that marketing is one skill that will outlast all others, even football skills. The life of a football star is a short and limited one in comparison to his/her entire life. When you think about it, the life of this blog will only go as far as Ronaldinho is around, and that won’t be for long. However, it is after this life of football and pleasure where a person begins to think about what they will do for the rest of it.
What Will You Do for the Rest of Your Life?
After you become a great footballer and fall off the face of the earth, what will you do? I personally hope that by the time that I’m done playing my game, I will have a business that will need tender loving care, because lets face it, I wouldn’t want to return to a desk job working 9 to 5, if I’ve been on top of the world creating all sorts of opportunities for my football club and scoring all these goals week in and week out. You just can’t go from a lifestyle like that to something so simple minded. This is where another passion will come into play and the need of money will begin to come into your life to catch up with the lifestyle you’re used to leading. Investments, Marketing and Business begins to take a hold when this need arises.
Do What You Love and The Money Will Follow
When you get a hold of this revelation, you will begin to live life much fuller and the quality of it rises. Therefore how do you accentuate that which you love? you tell people about it i.e. you market it. Marketing is probably the single most important skill you will ever need in your life - how to market a product, service or even your own business. Which ever path you decide to take when you’re done playing football, you will need marketing for any job involved with trying to sell a product or service. Anyway, you could always go work for someone and be held down in a dead end $100,000 a year job, but why do that to yourself? We will talk about more of the essential skills of life next week, so stay tuned…
