Alright, so the Barca and Liverpool game took place today and as many of you know, Liverpool went into this game with a 2-1 aggregate lead from the previous game between these two sides. Barca needed to win this game by a 2 goal deficit to progress through to the playoffs. Okay now that I have set the background, lets talk about the game.

Now Time For My Viewpoint

Disappointing on Barca’s behalf, they’re usually so much better than what they showed. Unfortunately they decided to bring out the goods too little too late. All our hearts went into our mouths when Liverpool was denied goals twice by the uprights. Whew!

The Goal Post Didn’t Help This Time

The pivotal point in the game that comes to mind is when Ronnie broke away from his marker and from inside the edge of the area, shot at goal to see him denied by the woodwork. I couldn’t believe it and I’m sure many of you agree. Let’s face it, Ron was marked very tight, Liverpool deserve credit for this. They didn’t let our guy run at the ball all night.

The Disappointing Conclusion

With the goal of Gudjohnsen, done with cool feet, rounded around Reina, Barca seemed to come alive and strived for that second goal. But it wasn’t to be. Knocked out of the Champions League, it didn’t go as hoped. I rang work telling them that I was to be 1 hour late, and was it worth it? I think so, to cheer the team on, to cheer Ronaldinho on, it would be my pleasure. So what now? to the Primera Liga we go where coach Rijkaard and his men are still in good contention, and where you and I will be anxiously waiting to see how Barca does.
